INFORMATION SHEET

  • District 7570 is located in the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Mountain regions in western Virginia and northeastern Tennessee
  • The district stretches over 700 kilometers (400 miles) from Winchester Virginia in the northeast to Greeneville Tennessee in the southwest. The area features magnificent natural beauty with captivating views of mountains, valleys, lakes and rivers throughout the district.
  • Roanoke Virginia is the largest city in the district. Other large towns include Harrisonburg and Lynchburg in Virginia, as well as Johnson City and Kingsport in Tennessee.
  • Most of the 75 Rotary Clubs and 2900 Rotarians in District 7570 are in suburban or small rural communities. Club sizes generally range from 20 to 50 Rotarians each, although the Rotary Club of Winchester has over 160 members.
  • Clubs throughout our district are very active in local and international service projects. Of note, PDG Woody Sadler has led several trips to Latin America over the years to deliver over 4400 wheelchairs to amputees, polio victims and others facing mobility challenges.
  • District 7570 boasts a diverse array of industries with a strong manufacturing base and vibrant technology sector that includes innovations in agriculture, information technology and health care.
  • The Shenandoah Valley is one of the country’s largest apple producing regions. Numerous peach, cherry and other fruit orchards can be found throughout the district as well.
  • Our district includes several higher education institutions including Virginia Tech, James Madison University, Washington & Lee University, and Liberty University.
  • Tourism is important to the region with a broad array of outdoor recreation opportunities available.
  • The district is also home to many cultural heritage and historical sites including the Birthplace of Country Music, The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, National D-Day Memorial, Natural Bridge, Shenandoah National Park, Museum of American Frontier Culture, President Woodrow Wilson’s Birthplace, and the American Shakespeare Center.
  • Located just outside the district is Monticello, President Thomas Jefferson’s home, and Appomattox Court House, site at which Confederate forces surrendered to end the American Civil War.
  • Popular tourism areas to the east and south of our district include Washington DC and the sandy beaches along the Virginia and North Carolina coasts.
